The average enrollment for a typical year is approximately 350 students. Omnitech operates on a twelve-month academic calendar and a standard clock hour system.

Twelve (12) hours is considered full time for a student. The normal class load is twenty-five hours per week for day students and sixteen hours for evening students. The ceremony recognized all students who completed a program through December 1999. Omnitech held its first graduation ceremony on Decemin the Banquet Hall of the North Center Complex. The additional space included a testing center, two classrooms, a larger receptionist and lobby area, Financial Services office, Enrollment Services office and a Career Services office. In the fall of 2000, Omnitech expanded its facility by leasing two additional suites in the North Center Business Complex.

Omnitech received its first business license in the spring of 1999 and has since maintained its license to operate. The program was designed to provide students with knowledge and skills required for industry certification and training to secure employment in the IT field. The first program administered in this facility was the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer Certificate Program, which began in June 1999 with an enrollment of twelve. Omnitech Institute started with only one office suite, which held a classroom, break room, receptionist area and an office. In the fall of 1998, the first classes were taught utilizing contracted classroom space at another institution until the previous location at 4319 Covington Highway in the North Center Business Complex was leased. In September 2002 the name was formally changed with the Nonpublic Postsecondary Education Commission (NPEC) to Omnitech Institute.

Thirty students really don't look like that much when teaching them, but thirty papers really take a while to grade! The hardest part of the job was grading papers - that was a challenge. Teachers could even take each other's classes (if they had time) as other subjects were offered than the teacher's specialty area (sound engineering or studio technician or audio engineer, for instance).

They were extremely supportive and worked with staff and new teachers to accomplish their goals and meet the needs of the students.įree coffee, no free vending machines. Management was very involved, but at the same time very hands off. It was very important to me that they succeed. I believed sincerely in no student left behind, not even the class clowns.

Learned how to work with students until all their challenges were overcome - including all the ones that had difficulty learning. Classes oriented around certification training for Cisco, Microsoft, et al. Hit the ground running, campus open from 8 to 7, offering continuing adult education as well as HS graduates.
